Gunpowder Branch, National League of American Pen Women
was founded in 2007 in Harford County, Maryland by a small group of women writers and artists.
We regularly hold free meetings to which the public is invited that feature arts speakers. We also sponsor art & writing workshops for a reasonable fee, annually publish the women's literary magazine: The Gunpowder Review, exhibit our arts & crafts at galleries & art shows, and participate in local arts activities.

The next meeting of the Gunpowder Pen Women will be held on Monday, September 27 at the Jarrettsville Library.
The program will be:
"Electronic Publishing & the Future"
presented by
Kim Roberts, editor of The Beltway Review
Kim Roberts, editor of The Beltway Review will discuss electronic publishing & the future. Online publishing is the way things are going to get done in the future. Within the next 10 or 20 years, most people will be the owners of Book Nooks, Kindles, or a similar product. These are devices which can download books at a fraction of the cost of a hard copy. Because we're a progressive Branch, we want to be in the know and ready to proceed in the arts well into the 21st century.
Kim will also be able to answer any questions you have about the magazine she edits, and maybe give us some insider information about any upcoming theme issues.
This meeting is free, open to the public & handicapped accessible.
The Jarrettsville Library is located at Norrisville Road, Jarrettsville, MD
Please join us for this fun and interesting program.
Mark Your Calendars:
Gunpowder Branch Art Show: September 1 thru October 31 at the Harford County Council's Gallery.
October Meeting:
Monday, October 18 We will be going on a tour & watching a demonstration of hand-thrown pottery at Beaumont Pottery on Jarrettsville Pike, just south of Jacksonville, MD. Jerry Beaumont & his wife, Janice, will be on hand to talk about pottery, show off the process, and give us a tour of his pottery school. We will meet at the studio at 10 AM, and afterwards you're free to come and have lunch as a group in Jacksonville, or go on about your day! this should be a very informative program and of great interest to all members. Jerry also has a gift shop which has many items he has made for sale.
November Reading:
Sunday, November 14, 2 PM The Gunpowder Review will make its second debut with a reading at the Bel Air Barnes &Noble. This is a very exciting accomplishment for our Branch, and we will have copies for sale there as well. We will be having our second book fair then, too. Vouchers will be available well before the event so we can get the word out. Again, we will get 10% of the sales for that week if voucher information is used.
